From where I sit…new bloggings from a graphic and web designer

Welcome to the new website of the Valley Design Studio and my first blog post.

I’m Amanda O’Bryan, a graphic and website designer based in the Blue Mountains, NSW. Today is a sparkling blue winters day; I call them champagne days. I have ventured out of my workspace and wandered down to the bottom the garden to sit in the sunshine. Given it is a champagne day I will toast to myself for finally getting the The Valley Design website built and launched. So cheers to me as I drink in the sunshine.

It’s taken over 12 months to design and develop this site. Why? Well I have been busy building sites and creating graphic design campaigns for other people. Have you ever heard of those house builders who never finish his or her own houses? I guess I am a bit like that – helping other small business with graphics and websites and that is what I love doing!

So what’s the point to this website and this blog? I’m in the business of practicing what I preach. I go on and on to my small business customers about the importance of online graphic and web strategies. This website is about showing my wares, experimenting with ideas and showing what I mean.

You see from where I sit, there has never been a better time to be in small business. Whether you are running a team from a small office, a mum working from home for flexibility, an artist or musician forging your own music career or a passionate entrepreneur bringing an inspired idea to the market, the availability of technology as an opportunity for small business growth has never been better. The trick to all this opportunity is understanding what works for your business and your customers.

Design is visual communication and designers communicate ideas. It’s our job to come up with solutions; creative, artful, amazing and surprising solutions for your business communication problems. The method and technology we use to do that may change but the desired outcome is always the same – RESULTS. For me that will mean a holistic approach, finding out about your business, what makes it tick, what is unique and great about it!

So while the ink is still wet on my new graphic and website design blog, I hope you jump on board and together we learn along the way!
